We started RubyNexes because we kept seeing the same problem. Businesses with real ambition, a clear idea of what they needed to build, and no development partner who would engage with the problem seriously. Plenty of agencies that would take a brief and execute it. Very few that would push back on a bad assumption before it became an expensive mistake.
That gap is what we exist to fill. We are a software development company, but the work we care most about is the thinking that happens before anyone writes a line of code. Getting that right is what separates a digital product people actually use from one that technically works but never quite fits the problem it was built for.
What we believe about software development
Good software is invisible. When it works well, users do not think about the technology at all. They just get things done. That is the standard we hold our work to. Not clean code for its own sake, not impressive architecture diagrams, but products that make the people using them more capable than they were before.
We build cloud-native, because software that cannot scale or adapt quickly is a ceiling, not a foundation. We use a modern tech stack, because the tools a team uses affect how fast they can move, how easy the product is to maintain, and how long it stays relevant. And we take design seriously from day one, because a well-engineered product with a confusing interface is still a product that fails.
A few things we hold to on every project
- We say what we think. If a scope decision will hurt the product, we say so early.
- We build for the long run. Every technical choice we make, we make with the next two years in mind, not just the launch.
- We keep clients in the loop. No black box development. You always know where your project stands and why decisions are being made.
- We finish things. Shipping well matters as much as building well. We do not hand over half-finished work and call it a milestone.
